Katie grew up in Virginia and received her BS in chemistry from the College of William and Mary. After a year as a leadership consultant, she continued in bench science at Vanderbilt University, obtaining her PhD in cell and developmental biology. She completed a short post-doc before she left the lab to focus on intellectual property licensing at University of Michigan and subsequently, Indiana University. After a decade in technology transfer, she then joined a university-affiliated venture capital firm and retains board participation in one of the funds portfolio companies. Katie joined Genezen Laboratories in April 2020 as their Chief Commercial Officer overseeing business development and marketing as the COMO executes an extensive manufacturing expansion and is finishing up her last class for her MBA at IU. She has three children, ages 3, 5 and 7, and enjoys spending time outside and learning new things.
