How is global change altering phenology and biodiversity, and how are these changes impacting human activities? These are the overarching questions driving our research. Flooded with an increasing volume of ecological data, we are still starving for knowledge when it comes to answering critical questions in global change biology, such as how changes in phenology scale up to influence biodiversity. This paradox requires the application of suitable data science methods and, increasingly, artificial intelligence (AI). Our research program operates at the intersection of environmental data science and global change biology. Our research vision centers on three key pillars: harnessing big data, informing decision-making, and advancing ecological theories. By synthesizing diverse data streams, we aim to provide both theoretical insights and practical solutions to the challenges posed by our rapidly changing world.
