Pipas Lab Hiring for a Postdoctoral Position: Polyomaviruses

The Pipas laboratory, located in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh, is seeking a highly motivated individual for a postdoctoral position focusing on cellular factors that restrict infection by human polyomaviruses. This 2-3 years opportunity is immediately available. The Pipas laboratory is interested in identifying cellular systems that limit the growth of pathogens in different cell-types or across host species boundaries. This involves both proteomic and single cell transcriptomic approaches, as well as molecular studies aimed at understanding the mechanisms of viral growth restriction at the cellular level. The position is central to this research program and the optimal candidate should be able to plan, execute and analyze experimental results with minimum oversight. The occupant will have primary responsibility for the design and execution of experiments, and for maintaining interactions with collaborators.

The Department of Biological Sciences consists of over 40 faculty members studying nearly all aspects of the biology and provides a supportive, interactive, collaborative environment for research. The Pipas laboratory is supported by state-of-the-art cell culture and virus containment laboratories, microscopy facilities, sequencing cores, and computational resources. The appointment is funded by a grant from the NIH. Candidates should have a recent Ph.D. and experience in virology or molecular and cellular biology.

The University of Pittsburgh is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer and values equality of opportunity, human dignity and diversity. EOE, including disability/vets
