Kimberly J. Durniak | Administrative Director of Academic Programs and Policy | Partners HealthCare

Kim Durniak joined Partners HealthCare in 2013 as the Administrative Director of Academic Programs and Policy in the Office of the Chief Academic Officer (CAO). Partners is a not-for- profit healthcare system in Massachusetts founded by Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital and a national leader in biomedical research. In this role she is responsible for the coordination of operational and planning issues related to Partners-wide scientific and academic initiatives. Durniak also helps develop the overall vision, mission, direction, goals and objectives of the CAO; and ensures that these strategic initiatives are aligned with the vision, strategic plan, and goals of Partners. By working with various Partners departments and research management teams, she helps implement these initiatives. Prior to joining Partners, Durniak worked at the American Academy of Arts and Sciences as the Director of Science Policy Initiatives, and the Program Officer for Science and Technology Policy. In this role, she provided support for several projects, including Science in the Liberal Arts Curriculum and Scientists’ Understanding of the Public. She also managed a multi- million dollar project, the Global Nuclear Future Initiative, that brought together key stakeholders to examine issues critical to ensuring a safe and secure nuclear order. Durniak received her Ph.D. in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University; and has a B.A. and B.S. from the University of Pittsburgh.
