Dr. Asha Collins
Head of US Country Clinical Operations Genentech and Roche
Dr. Asha S. Collins is a biologist, strategist and operational leader focused on transforming and scaling biopharma businesses. She is a trained cancer biologist and complements that training with diverse management experiences that provide her a robust view of healthcare and biopharma. Specifically, her experiences span science policy, management consulting, operational leadership roles at a Fortune 5 company and ground-up operations in Ethiopia, angel investing, as well as being an independent corporate Director at an S&P 500 public company. Her breadth of experience, exposure, and people leadership capabilities have enabled her to repeatedly drive accelerated growth and value creation across diverse healthcare settings.
Currently, she is the head of US Clinical Operations at Genentech, a member of the Roche Group. In this role she is accountable for all, in-sourced, late-stage clinical trials conducted in the United States across the entire portfolio, i.e.Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Ophthalmology, Immunology, Neuroscience, and Rare Diseases. Prior to this role, she was vice President / General Manager for the US Clinical Trial Sourcing business at McKesson Corporation, one of the largest healthcare organizations in North America. In the past, she has leveraged her virology background to work in bioterrorism at the National Academies. She has also served as a management consultant focused on life sciences strategy and operations at Deloitte and Quintiles Consulting, driving some of the most innovative engagements for these practices.
In addition to her passion for transforming biopharmaceutical and healthcare companies, Asha is equally passionate about using her skills and experience to build communities. She is a mentor for Backstage Capital, an Aspen Institute HealthInnovator Fellow, a recognized speaker on healthcare innovation, she co-leads a community dedicated to supporting underrepresented healthcare entrepreneurs, is an angel investor, and has ongoing work focused on improving healthcare access in East Africa.
Asha is also an independent Corporate Director for IDEXX Laboratories (NASDAQ: IDXX) where she serves on the nominating and Governance Committee. She also serves as a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for the TranslationalResearch Institute for Space Health (TRISH), an organization that helps support human health research for NASA’s space exploration efforts.
When not involved in these activities, you will find Asha out in nature, on a yoga mat, reading or simply being outdoors adventuring.
