Due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, all summer instruction at the University of Pittsburgh has been moved to an online format. Unfortunately, this includes all PLE 2020 courses. We are still offering most of our courses in a web-based lecture format.
The Pymatuning Lab of Ecology (PLE) offers its courses to a consortium of regional universities to serve as a source of biological field courses for the entire region. While PLE is operated by the University of Pittsburgh's main campus, the educational consortium has grown to include Pitt-Bradford, Pitt-Greensburg, Pitt-Johnstown, Pitt-Titusville, Clarion University, Edinboro University, Indiana University, and Slippery Rock University.
At PLE, we are always striving to improve the quality of the courses, residences, and catered food offered to our students. Recent improvements to our dormitories and a complete overhaul of our IT infrastructure have resulted in improved student experiences. Indeed, when students are asked to rate their overall experience at PLE, 98% of students rate their experience as either good or excellent!
For the upcoming summer, we have assembled another impressive collection of high-quality courses. By enrolling in several courses, we guarantee that you will satisfy your hunger for field experience, improve your resume, meet requirements for your major, and interact with a diverse array of teaching and research faculty.Don't have a car to get to PLE? Don't worry! Students from Pitt attending the summer courses will receive an e-mail to help arrange car pooling among students. For more information on car pool arrangements, please contact Christine Berliner at the BioSci Advising Office.
