Department announces search for 2 new faculty

Two Faculty Positions

Biological Sciences

The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for two full-time tenure-track faculty appointments in Biological Sciences, pending budgetary approval.  Appointments are anticipated to begin in September 2013, and will continue to advance our goal of establishing a broad-based interactive community of scientific researchers in modern biology.  Candidates working in any disciplinary area of biological sciences are invited to apply, particularly those with interests in one or more of the following:

  • Cell Biology
  • Genetics/genomics
  • Developmental Biology
  • Microbiology

We anticipate making both appointments at the ASSISTANT PROFESSOR level.  The successful candidates must have a Ph.D. and substantial postdoctoral experience, and will be expected to establish extramurally funded research programs, train graduate students, and engage successfully with undergraduates in science education and research.  To ensure full consideration, applications should be received by November 1, 2012.  Applicants should email a single PDF document, with “Biological Sciences Search” in the subject line, which contains a curriculum vitae, a statement of research accomplishments and future plans, and a brief description of teaching interests to biojobs@pitt.edu.  Applicants should arrange to have at least three letters of reference sent to biojobs@pitt.edu

Further information about the Department of Biological Sciences is available at: http://www.biology.pitt.edu.  The University of Pittsburgh is an Affirmative Action, Equal Opportunity Employer.  Women and members of minority groups under-represented in academia are especially encouraged to apply.
