Pitt takes part in SciTech Festival at Carnegie Science Center

The SciTech Festival was recently held at the Carnegie Science Center. The event, which connects middle and high school students with STEM professionals from academic, corporate, and professional societies from throughout Western Pennsylvania, hosted over 2,000 students over the course of the week. Pitt continued its annual involvement with the festival by hosting a workshop as well as an exhibit that featured research from scientists in the Department of Biological Sciences and across the University. Students got a chance to learn about the various types of research going on in the University, including the use of model systems, the evolution of butterfly coloration, protein structure and function, and computational molecular modeling.  The students’ enthusiasm was evident, and we are already looking forward to seeing a new group of students at the next SciTech Festival!
